Pajarito Tradicional is the calling card and the most iconic expression of Paraguayan yerba mate. This powerful, smoke-dried classic from the Pajarito brand represents 70 years of heritage from Bella Vista, Paraguay. It is the ultimate expression of authentic Paraguayan mate character: strong, complex and versatile, suited to traditional hot mate and cold tereré alike.
What does Pajarito Tradicional taste like?
Pajarito Tradicional tastes powerful, strong and intense, with pronounced roasted and smoky characteristics that come from the traditional barbacuá smoke-drying method. The flavour profile carries roasted aromas, coffee and toast notes, undertones of tobacco and an oaky, herbal character, balanced by a surprising nuttiness and a light sweetness in the finish. The aroma is woody with subtle hints of hay, buttery nuances, sweet caramel shades and light notes of candyfloss, giving a mild, somewhat restrained but genuinely complex aroma.
About the producer
Pajarito is Paraguay's best-selling yerba mate brand, founded in 1956 by Lauro Raatz and his wife Sara Ulbrich on the old yerba mate plantations of Don Gustavo Raatz. The brand grew from hand-powered drying installations and manual packing teams of 25 women into a producer of 15,000 packs a day, exporting to more than 47 countries worldwide.
How do you drink Pajarito Tradicional?
Pajarito Tradicional is prepared the same way whether you drink it hot or cold: fill a traditional gourd (mate) or horn cup (guampa) two thirds with the smoke-dried yerba, pour in hot water (70-80°C for mate caliente) or cold water (for tereré), place the bombilla and drink. In traditional Paraguayan preparation, fresh herbs such as mint or lemon verbena are often added to the water for tereré.
Guarani Energia combines Paraguayan yerba mate with guarana, one of South America's most potent natural stimulants, for an intense double-caffeine energy boost. This is the choice for those seeking maximum natural stimulation and strong effects.
What does Guarani Energia taste like?
Guarani Energia tastes intense and energizing with a characteristic smoky aroma from traditional barbacuá drying, creating a delicately sour and vegetal aftertaste. The robust taste profile delivers the strong, smoky character Guarani is known for while maintaining perfect balance with the guarana's unique contribution.
About the manufacturer
Guarani is produced by EBSA (Eno Brönstrup S.A.), a legendary Paraguayan company with over 70 years of expertise in yerba mate. The brand was launched in 2017 specifically for international markets, particularly Europe, while drawing on EBSA's heritage with the iconic Selecta brand.
How do you prepare Guarani Energia?
Prepare Guarani Energia by filling your gourd about two-thirds with loose leaf, inserting your filtered bombilla, and adding cold water first. Top with hot water around 70-75°C and steep for a few minutes. This energizing blend is excellent hot or cold, though many prefer it hot to fully experience the stimulating effects.

La Rubia Orgánica stands for the finest Paraguayan artisanal quality from a small family business. This organic mate is aged for 2 years to develop a refined flavour with smoky depth, notes of tobacco, cherry, dark chocolate and fresh acidity — qualities that recall a smoky whisky. Drinking it with lower temperature water (60°C) allows the layered, generous complexity to come fully into its own.
What does La Rubia Organica taste like?
La Rubia Organica is powerful yet refined, with an immediately present smokiness that never turns rough or sharp and develops smoothly with velvety, layered textures. The gastronomic flavour profile reveals notes of tobacco, cherry, dark chocolate and fresh acidity, which together create a refined depth without excessive intensity.
About the producer
La Rubia Orgánica is produced by a traditional family business in Paraguay that works in an artisanal way in small batches and has no formal online presence. Despite this unusual approach to marketing, the brand enjoys international standing thanks to word of mouth and recognition of its quality among experienced materos. The 2 years of ageing develop the complexity and softness that characterise this premium variety.
How do you drink La Rubia Organica?
Prepare La Rubia Organica with careful attention to temperature: around 60°C is ideal, lower than for most other yerba mate. Fill your gourd three quarters full, cover it and shake gently, then pour warm water at this lower temperature down one side and place your bombilla.
Perfectly balanced smoky-bitter elements blend very well with passion fruit oil. The taste is very refreshing. It is reminiscent of mate tea blends that contain mint. Fruity accents are noticeable after adding some water. Although Guarani Maracuya is generally not too intense, its mild and harmonious aroma remains even after several additions of water.
